TICKETS
PURCHASE, REFUND & ENTRY POLICY
Effective October 1, 2026 · last updated September 2026
Short version: all sales are final. If you can't come, you can transfer your ticket once to another member, free, up until doors. If we cancel the event, you get everything back automatically.
WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM
Tickets on themove.party are sold by The Move (Robert DeHaven, sole proprietor), the organiser of the event. We are not a resale marketplace and we do not sell other promoters' tickets. Payment is processed by Stripe; your card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and are never seen by, or stored on, our servers.
The charge on your statement will read THEMOVE.
WHAT YOU ARE BUYING
Admission for one person to one event, on the date and at the venue shown on the event page. A ticket is a revocable licence to enter, not property, and it does not guarantee any particular artist, set time, capacity, table, or any other amenity unless the ticket tier explicitly says so.
PRICES, FEES AND TAX
›The ticket price is shown on the event page before you choose anything.
›A service fee may be added per order. When it is, it is shown as its own line, with its own number, before you are sent to payment. It is never folded into the ticket price or revealed afterwards.
›Massachusetts does not impose sales tax on admission tickets, so no sales tax is added on events in Massachusetts. Where an event is held in a jurisdiction that does tax admissions, any tax is shown separately before payment.
›All prices are in US dollars.
HOW YOU GET YOUR TICKET
Immediately after payment you are returned to the event page and your ticket appears there as a QR code, along with a link that reaches it again without signing in. Screenshot the QR code before you leave for the night. Venues have bad signal and phones die; a screenshot scans just as well as the live page.
Finishing your account keeps every ticket you have ever bought in one place under MY TICKETS. You do not have to make an account to buy or to get in.
REFUNDS
All sales are final. Once you have bought a ticket we do not refund it because plans changed, because you're ill, because you couldn't get there, or because you changed your mind. The room, the staffing and the artists are all committed on the strength of the tickets sold, and that money is spent long before the night.
There are exactly two exceptions, and both are about us rather than you:
1.We cancel the event. Every ticket is refunded in full — ticket price and service fee — automatically, without you having to ask.
2.We move it. Your ticket is valid for the new date. If the new date doesn't work for you, tell us within 7 days of the announcement and we will refund you in full.
If you can't come, transfer your ticket. It is free, it takes a few seconds, and it works right up until doors. See below.
Where a refund does happen it goes back to the card that paid, through Stripe, and usually appears within five to ten business days depending on your bank. We do not refund in cash or in kandi.
An individual event can be more generous than this. Where it is, it is written on that event's page before you pay, and that note wins over this section.
IF WE CANCEL OR MOVE THE EVENT
›Cancelled: every ticket is refunded in full, including the service fee, without you having to ask.
›Rescheduled: your ticket is valid for the new date. If you can't make it, tell us within 7 days of the announcement and we will refund you in full.
›Venue changed: same as rescheduled.
›Line-up changed: line-ups change. A change of artist, set time or running order is not on its own grounds for a refund, and no ticket is sold on the promise of one specific performer unless the tier says so in writing.
TRANSFERS
This is the way out of a ticket you can't use, and it is deliberately easy.
›A ticket can be transferred once, and once only.
›It can only go to another member you are connected with — a direct message request that they accepted.
›The original ticket is destroyed at the moment of transfer and its QR code stops working. Screenshots of it are worth nothing.
›Transfers close when doors close. There is no fee.
›Reselling a ticket for more than you paid is not allowed and we will void tickets we find being touted.
GETTING IN
›Bring physical photo ID. Where an event is 18+ or 21+ it is shown on the event page and enforced at the door. No ID, no entry, no refund.
›Each QR code admits one person once. A code that has already been scanned will not scan again.
›Door staff may refuse entry for intoxication, for a failed or missing ID check, or for behaviour towards staff, artists or other guests. A refusal on those grounds does not earn a refund.
›Arrive before last entry. Where an event has one it is on the event page.
›Re-entry is at the venue's discretion and is not guaranteed.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR ORDER
Email themove.admin@gmail.com with the phone number or email you used. We can find any order from either, and we can resend your ticket link.
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. A dispute takes weeks, costs us a fee whatever the outcome, and cannot be withdrawn once it is opened — whereas we can usually fix the actual problem the same day. A ticket belonging to a disputed order is void from the moment the dispute is opened.
YOUR DETAILS
To sell you a ticket we need a phone number, because that is what the ticket is attached to and how we reach you if the night changes. We do not sign you up for marketing texts for buying a ticket — you are opted out of those unless and until you make an account and tick the box that says so. See the Privacy Policy and the SMS Terms.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Events are loud and dark and crowded. Attending one means accepting the ordinary risks of doing that, including exposure to loud music, strobe and other lighting effects, crowds and physical contact. If you are sensitive to strobe lighting, ask us before you buy.
RECORDING
We photograph and film our events. By attending you agree that your image may appear in our photos and videos and be used to promote The Move. If you would rather not appear, tell the person with the camera or email us afterwards and we will take it down.
LIMITS
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for anything connected to a ticket is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
The version in force for your ticket is the one published when you bought it. We date every revision at the top of this page. Changes are never applied backwards to tickets already sold.
GETTING HOLD OF US
